Riding the Wharton Forest from Atsion to Carranza Memorial, by way of Quaker Bridge Rd., was fun! It has mostly sandy trails, mostly flat, BUT there are many clean spots along the river to water your horse. The cedar water is enjoyed by most horses due to it being cool and refreshing! Scenery is beautiful, deer are plentiful, and you might be lucky to see coyote. (Be prepared for vehicles, cycles, 4 wheelers.)Pack a lunch and sit a spell. Go any time, year-round, and enjoy a day in NJ on horseback!
